Marked Tree High School have Administrative Professionals’ Day, April 27, 2016. It’s Whether you give the teacher flowers or take them out to lunch, and make sure you say thanks to your assistant or secretary.
Keep in mind-"Responsibility without power, the fate of the secretary through the ages."
Administrative Professional Day is whether they work the front desk at an elementary school or manage files at the county office, school secretaries and other administrative professionals keep our schools running smoothly.
Classified employees in the office do just about everything. They maintain attendance records, answer the phones, pay the bills and communicate with parents and administrators all while keeping pace with advances in computer, telephone and document reproduction technology.
If you happen to work in an office environment, chances are pretty good you turn to a certain person when you have a problem, need assistance and want something done. That person also knows the inner workings of the office and keeps the office running in tip-top shape. Whether you call them office managers, secretaries or administrative assistants, there is a special day of the year that honors and recognizes the millions of hard-working men and women who fulfill that need. “ Happy Administrative Professional Day”

Thanks For the Hard work!!!

At Marked tree High school we will like to thank the juniors sponsor for their hard work they did planning and organization prom.
In Marked Tree High school on April 14 & 15 the junior class got out of school, to work on seniors prom masquerade that was on that weekend April 16th. Even knowing they only get one whole day and one half day to work on prom, they did a lot of their big work 2 weeks before prom in Ms. Goline room and outside the school. You knew the juniors class had been working hard because the next day you came in Ms. Goline’s room it would be glitter all over her floor, in different spots and gold spray paint all outside the school with different shapes of things they spray painted.
So For that we will like to give a big thanks to the juniors class for working so hard on the seniors prom they did a great job. We will also want to thank Ms. Long, Ms.Goline and Mr.Deibel for all their hard work they did on making prom look so good, Helping the Junior class raise money for prom. I went and asked the juniors sponsor how was it working with the juniors class with prom. Here is their answer
Zachary Deibel: Prom proved both taxing and rewarding. As sponsors, Ms. Long and Ms. Goline spent countless hours preparing for prom, from design planning to budgeting to organizing fundraising events. Additionally, the juniors met frequently in a display of both tenacity and dedication to the outcome. I wish that some of the financial and organizational obligations had not been as onerous for Ms. Goline and Ms. Long, but they proved more than capable of handling each challenge with aplomb. The class of 2017 succeeded in creating a prom that truly represented the best of the junior class—a willingness to persevere, a steadfast commitment to achieving our goal, and a collaborative spirit that made both planning and celebrating a true joy. I hope all who were present had a lovely evening.
BRENDA LONG: This year's Junior Class worked to have a great prom. The Juniors were very successful with fundraising, which is always a big concern. It costs quite a bit to have the decorations, food, music, etc. that are necessary to a prom's success. There were many students that contributed ideas for prom--it takes everyone working together! There were different committees!for the different aspects of prom; however, everyone pitched in to help with whatever needed doing. Mrs. Goline and Mr. Deibel provided great leadership. Next year's Junior Class are going to have to work to out-do this year's Junior Class!!!
Jessie Goline: The class of 2017 made this year’s prom a joy to plan and enact. These students, especially those on the prom committee, were eager undertakers of this daunting task. We began planning in January with the goal to create a prom marked by elegance. We wanted to alter the space of the cafeteria as much as possible, which led us to the idea of constructing a canopy. These students carried the stress of planning on their shoulders, while maintaining immovable resolve. They were the reason that Prom 2016 was lovely.

In Marked tree high school we will like to highlight the sweetest moment that happen on 4/1/2016 with our students.
Being in high school prom is a big thing, at any school because everyone wants the perfect dress and shoes and hair and perfect date. back in 1940s it was simple the man ask the woman out to prom, that was before prom proposals came out from 2002 to 2007 but you don’t see anyone doing them anymore these day. But until 2016 out of all my six year of being in high school my first Prom Proposal was with my classmate.
Nelson Cooper asks Nicole Hawkins to go to prom with him, but that's not all he did to get this girl to say yes, he asked his fellow classmates to help him out, by holding and helping him draw out the letters and color them to put on poster boards he get on the other end and ask her with followers in his hands. After all the work they but in the prom proposals it was worth because she said yeah so now all she needs is her dress.

The Highest ACT Scores
By: shandile Luster
Published: 4/3/2016
In High School taking the ACT is like everything to you as a student in high school why? Because it creates your future because what u get on the ACT can make you or break you.
What is the ACT Test? is the leading US college admissions test, measuring what you learn in high school to determine your academic readiness for college. The scores Colleges look for in Arkansas? Is a 19 but if you have a higher score on the ACT LIke a 26 you can get a full ride to college where you go. Everyone wants a full ride to college but you have to work hard to do it here are some tips to help you study for ACT.
English Tips: When searching for sentence errors, start by reading the sentence or paragraph carefully, listening in your head; usually the word or phrase that contains an error will sound wrong. If no errors pop up, look for the four most common types of errors:
Mathematics Tips: As soon as you find the right answer, mark it and move on -- there are no ''degrees of rightness'' to be considered. Marking up diagrams or sketching simple drawings when none are available can help you ''see'' the answers. The questions generally focus on mathematical reasoning, not your ability to perform calculations; if you find yourself spending too much time figuring the problem out, then you've probably overlooked a simple shortcut.
Writing tips: Essays are scored holistically, which means that the final score is based on an overall impression. To make that overall impression a good one, be sure to organize your ideas into a standard essay format. A well-organized essay consists of four to five paragraphs, including an introduction, supporting paragraphs, and a conclusion. Aim to have at least two body paragraphs to develop and support your ideas.
Here is the Article I used for my information.
Marked tree High school will like to congratulate junior for their hard work they did on March 1est ACT test that is now required to students in the 11th grade to take the ACT test by State Of Arkansas. The Junior Avg Scores was a 21.17, 40% make a 24 or higher on the ACT test and 70% of them Scored enough to get the challenge scholarship.

What is apex ?
BY: Shandile Luster
Published: 2/24/16
In Marked tree highs school we have students that don’t know what Apex is, because they just started high school so I am going to help the students learn about it.
What is apex? that’s the question seventh graders and eighth graders sometimes Ninth grader asked all the time so I'm going to tell you what it is. Apex is a learning course that happens when you fail a class in high school this helps you because won’t have to take the class again, you can just do it on apex but it’s not going to be as easy if you think it is. You can do apex on any course form mathematics, science, English studies, social studies, Romance languages, the fine arts, health and physical education, and Advanced Placement. This is good for students who have problems with being in class room full with a lot of people. The only things you don’t want on Apex is science and math because they're the hardest to do without a teacher to help you understand it maybe the teachers won’t understand it sometimes because thoughts are the hardest two.
Why not to get Apex? Because apex can mess up your future,if you're not done with your apex by time for you to graduation high school until it’s done you're not going anywhere. Apex is really hard if you don’t know what you're doing the best woman to help you understand is Ms. Criswell .The best way for you to do apex is to not have it at all. You have a lot of apex you have to do the best thing for you to do if you get apex is to do it right a way so you don’t be Stressing on your Senior Year. It has been students for years who has been doing apex the day of their Graduation.

In Marked tree high school we want to Congratulate Tyler wofford for being player of the the game, when marked tree played Tuckerman on February 24,2016.
Tyler wofford is a player of the Marked Tree Indians basketball team he is their point guard. On February 24 Tyler gotten player of the game in the Marked tree High school District Tournament, MTHS Vs Tuckerman during the game tyler scored 13 points. Marked tree high school wins the game by 61 to 54. We asked tyler how it feel to make 13 point on the game his response was he “really didn't have a feeling he just played the game like he always have”. Tyler have been playing basketball ever since he was in the 2nd grade.
Tyler says he will continue playing basketball after high school he says have no doubt in Himself. his coaches always told him that you have the talent to go play at the next level he just have to prove it. when on the court there's no telling who's watching, it might be college scouts scouting.” something I like about my teammates is that that some of them don't give up , they play until the last buzzer, and that some of them are willing to pick some of their teammates up when they see that they are down. Also, some of them are very positive”. Tyler “My plans after high school is to continue my basketball career in college but if that plan don't work my other plan is to go to college and major in business”.
Let’s see what advice tyler coach have for his new journey
Coach Wilburn:
“The advice I can give Tyler for this journey called “life” is to always put god first always try to be a better person than you were yesterday. Anything you try attempt, seek his help/guidance first. There is always room for Improving yourself. Set daily goals to make you better person. Success awaits you!”
Coach Perry:
My advice to Tyler about “Life” first and foremost God has to be the centerpiece of his. Life's not fair and the world does not owe you anything. He is going to have some good days and some bad days and when those bad days come upon him don’t quit pray. He need to stay focus and make short and long term goals stay Humble and Hungry for success

In Marked Tree High school we have one of our students Tyrell Andrews was selected to be FBLA District Secretary,on jan the 28, at the FBLA Conference,Four High school Students were participated in the FBLA District Leadership Meeting Where a student again name Tyrell Andrews was elected District 2 Secretary.
FBLA was founded on the key principles:
“I am the Secretary of District II and the Vice-President of my local chapter. My job as district secretary is to record things said during meetings and be the Vice-president advisor.I joined FBLA because I saw it as something that could build my character. In FBLA we are like one big family we help each other succeed on an everyday basis. The values that it brought for me was the aspect of becoming a leader. Without FBLA first teaching me how to be a leader, I don't believe I would hold all of my leadership positions today. I believe that if people will give FBLA a try it would not only increase their skills it would also help increase your grades. I got elected to the secretary position by the votes of my fellow FBLA members across District II. I decided to run for office because I believe that we achieve the key principles through community service which is something District II has strayed away from.”

Who’s Wants to do flagline?

In Marked Tree High School Fine Arts Teacher Mr. Alex Goff is having flagline practice in the High school Auditorium. Practices will continue till Mr.Goff feels that the student have practice a Enough to be judge to for the next flagline girls.
What is flagline? Flagline is just like cheerleader but the difference between the two is that you don’t need to do gymnastics in flagline. But what they have in common is that cheerleader need body strength for picking up cheerleader just like flagline girls need body strength to move the flag in flagline. Flagline girls get to do a halftime dance with the band just like the cheerleader have halftime dance on the football field. Don’t forget about the cute outfits flag line get to wear. don’t forget about dancing in the school pep rallies and get to go on the football away games.
Now that you know about flagline here is some information about it,your flagline coach is Mr. Goff. We can only have six students can be a flagline girls so hush up tryout. we have had a flagline for years just that nobody knew about the flagline team or what flagline girls did. The Clinic and the auditions are two different things. At the Clinic the students learn a routine to music and learn some of the basics of spinning. At the auditions pairs of students will perform their routine for a panel of judges who will look at how well they do the routine, how well they recover from mistakes, and their attitude.
What the judges will look for? The tryouts are mostly judged on the auditioners attitude and teachability during the clinic week. Students learn a prepared routine that they will perform with a partner on the day of the audition.
Alex Goff : “The most important thing in flagline is the attribute a flagline member can have is a positive attitude. It can be a very difficult job, so it's important that the flag line members can be patient with themselves and their instructors while they're learning. Probably the second most important characteristic is determination. It's important that they keep on trying in spite of mistakes”.
The students who make flagline will go to Frontlines camp this summer, which is a camp for flagline and drum majors to teach them more about how to perform. The flagline will be doing some fundraisers later in this semester to help raise money for these camps.

Clarence Overbay’s Time to Shine
By: Arizona Paynes
Published: December 4, 2015
Marked Trees High School Students Thank Clarence Overbay for helping them understand what it takes to be in the army and how to wear the uniformed and respect it. The parents are happy to see their kids wearing the uniform and the people who use to be in war and made them happy that they are showing respect. Clarence Overbay love to helping the students and teachers, he is a nice man and a caring man he respects everyone.
Clarence Overbay was drafted during the Vietnam Era, but due to the fact he was a full-time college student and maintaining a satisfactory grade point, he was allowed to graduate before going into the military. After graduation, he chose to enter the Army and become an officer in the Corp of Engineers. Clarence overbay was in training at Fort Belvoir, VA when the Vietnam War was declared over on April 30, 1975. His graduation date was May 2, 1975. If the war had not ended, he would have arrived in Vietnam on 1 June 1975. he had only planned to stay in the required 4 years, but made it a career and retired from active duty on 31 March 2000.
“ Time restraints and funding are the most critical things in planning trips or doing improvements to the school. We have to stay within the allotted budget and trips must not conflict with scheduled curriculum instruction.”“ It is always rewarding to be able to assist a student, fellow faculty member or school staff in dealing with an assignment or task. I believe in the team concept, and we are all on the same team here at Marked Tree School District.”
Planning trips requires collaboration between students, instructors, administration and the transportation department. It is essential that trips be planned well in advance, to ensure all involved have sufficient time to complete all requirements needed.
Marked Tree Army JROTC is fortunate to have an engraving machine, They offer the service of making name plates for faculty and administration as a Service Learning Project. The school buys the materials and the JROTC Cadets produce the name plates.”
“High school graduates’ can always consider the military service as an option after graduation. Clarence Overbay often asked "which military branch is best, " or "which military branch would I recommend?" He can no more answer that than he could tell us what high school sport you should participate in, or what your major should be in college. Each individual is different, with different skills, talents, and interests. The military branch that may be perfect for me, is not the branch that may be a good fit for you. That's a decision you're going to have to make on your own. There are more than 800 military jobs available in the various military branches, many that can prepare you for a very successful civilian career after military service is completed. First and foremost, you should decide if you should even join the military. As I said, the military is not for everyone, and some people find that out too late. Ask yourself why you want to join the military? Do you need a job? Do you want to serve your country? Are you thinking of making the military a career, or just do a term or two? Is it for the college benefits? Is it to learn a trade? Do you want to travel the World for a while? Just need some time to "mature?"Before you join, recognize the fact that a stint in the military is not civilian employment. It's not just like having a regular job. You can't just up and quit anytime you want to it is a commitment.”

On October 24,2015 at 8:00 in the morning our MTHS Jr high choir went to participate in the all region Choir Contest in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Here, they will sing and be judged on their ability to perform and participate in a big choir with students from all around the nation.
In a conversation with the participants about the songs that were assigned, Monique Wofford said, “My favorite song in all region was A jubilant song.” Also, Dajia Allen stated, “No it wasn’t hard to learn the music, the words were easy.”
Students will have to sing three songs in front of judges in, what they call, a blind audition. A blind audition is one in which the judges never actually see the person performing. 7th grader Serenity Shockley said, “I was petrified in front of the judges. I felt like I was going pass out or die, but at the end I did a good job.” The top 20-30 students out of 100 or more will be in a choir together to perform their audition music together with a guest conductor in front of an audience.
All region is for Jr. High and High School Choir and Band students. All region has been with the MTHS family for 50 years. It started in 1986. All region provides an opportunity for students to play in a big choir or band with a well-known conductor. Aliyah McDaniel must have enjoyed the experience; she said, “Yes, I would do all region again.”
Edit (Thursday, October 19, 2015): The winner of the All Region Contest for MTHS is an 8th grader named Jarrett Harsson . Here are some of the Jr high responses after all Region was over.

Dee Griffin had the most Indian spirit for 12th grade because he is very enthusiastic, and he cares a lot about the school. He participated has in many clubs/ events, and he makes excellent grades. Dee Griffin said, “I never gives up on my team in Basketball nor football, I loves to make people laugh and I have a great personality.”
Dalton Watson has the most Indian spirit for 11th grade because he is the school mascot that means he has to show school spirits. Being Indian Joe doesn't look like the easiest task.
Markel Perry has the most Indian spirit for 10th grade because he’s always happy and ready to do anything and he always dresses to impress for an event that MTHS hosts. Markel does a lot of stuff for his 10th grade class, He shows a great amount of pride, Markel or Kel as we all call him is the class President for his class and make the things they do possible. He plays basketball and cheers his team on and off the court. He is a very nice person, plus he cares a lot about his classmates. Markel never gets in trouble and he makes a very good impression on others.
Justin Ellis has the most Indian spirit in the 9th grade because he shows major support and he brings his classmates up when they are down. He is the type of person that is laid back and nice, what more could you ask for in a student! Justin Ellis is the biggest fan that the Indians have. His entire family shares this Fiery spirit. He’s always looking forward to helping out, that's of course when the help is needed, and he comes to all of the athletic events such as: Football, Basketball, Tennis, Softball, Baseball, and Golf when he can make the trip.
All of these students have Indian spirit because they show you how to have fun, and support you school all at one time. You will never find students like this at any other school around!

Pink week is an Event that Marked Tree High School does every year around October, pink week is for student that goes to MTHS .What we do in pink week? Go a whole week wearing pink. To show support for breast cancer awareness.
Who created pink week? Ms. Bobbie Pharis Marked Tree High School counselor and English Teacher and the Cheerleading coach/ Special Education Teacher Mrs. Samantha Drewett. Pink week started the year of 2012 When one of our own beloved indians Bobbie Pharis was diagnosed with breast cancer, but she is a survivor. So to show our love and thoughts to the ones that have lost their loved one and to those who are still fighting with breast cancer.
By having the cheerleading team sell breast cancer awareness T-shirts and taking all the money we raised $1,200 dollars and donate it to Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.
Every year the students of Marked Tree High School take part in the Susan G. Komen race for the cure. They have been going in 2012. They go to help raise awareness and to help support Ms.Pharis.
Here Are the two people who won pink week. Ms.Criswell was “very happy”she won.she wishes to “Get more people involved in it, especially the teachers.” She believed that “Hopefully, very soon, they will find a cure to end all types of cancer”.
Lydia Conner a Senior if Marked Tree High School, is “happy that she won”. It took her” 4-5 days”to pick out her pin week costume. She wishes “that everyone dresses up” for pink week.
